Obituary of ELMER A. BERENS |
Elmer A. Berens, 76, Victoria, died Tuesday, November 13,
2001, at his home. He was born January 16, 1925, at Vincent, the son of Ulrich H. and Elizabeth VonLintel Berens. Elmer married Dolorosa Kuhn on June 9, 1949, at Victoria. She died February 17, 1992. He was a member of St. Fidelis Catholic church and Knights of Columbus, both of Victoria, and a former member of St. Boniface Catholic church, Vincent. He was a farmer and stockman in the Vincent area, moving to Victoria in 1994. He was a 1943 graduate of Schoenchen High School, Schoenchen. He served eight years on the Victoria School Board, 11 years on Hope Valley School Board, 10 years on the Freedom Township Board Committee, one year on the Victoria Co-Op Board, and one year on the FHA Board. He served many years on the St. Boniface Church Committee. He was a member of Victoria Meal Site. He was preceded in death by: three brothers, Louis, Otto and Fedelis Berens. Survivors include: three sons, Samuel Berens, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Roy Berens, Jacksonville, Florida, and Karl Berens, Bixby, Oklahoma; three daughters, Connie Dinkel, Victoria, Vickie Dreiling, Great Bend, and Pamela Clark, Olathe; two brothers, Ben Berens, Great Bend, and Victor Berens, Quinter; two sisters, Theckla Haas, Hays, and Irene Dinkel, Victoria, 14 grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 16, at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria, with Fr. Maris Goetz officiating. Burial will be at St. Fidelis Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Friday at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to St. Fidelis Cemetery Fund, Diabetes Association Hays area Support Group, or masses. |
