HON. JOHN H. BAYER.
I too had the incorrect name for the second wife and mother of the two sons of Johann A. Bayer...I have been proven wrong,
under the paragraph heading "Woodson County" ...page 757 the wife is incorrect, you may want to footnote this passage..because a webpage reaches a lot more people than a book.... Here is the misinformation: His father, John A. Bayer, was a wagonmaker, who was born in Saxony, the family home having been near Leipsic through many generations. Becoming a resident of Hanover, he there spent this remaining days, dying at the age of sixty-four years, when our subject was a youth of only thirteen years. The mother bore the maiden name of Sophia Wiettege and died in 1847, leaving two children, John A. and John H. By a former marriage the father had a family of seven children, one of whom, Annie, is the wife of Conrad Herder, of Woodson County.
That "Sophia Wiettege" has been proven incorrect, It is actually "Sophia Eleanore Hollings." I was contacted by a Herder genealogist today and I was also corrected
You may want to add the name of the woman who was the wife ..."By a former marriage the father had a family of seven children..one of whom, Annie, is the wife of Conrad Herder of Woodson County" This wife of John A. Bayer was Rebek Doescher..I will attach that family to show her as the mother "Annie"
