WILLIAM MARTIN WILLIAMS

William Martin Williams was born August 5, 1861, in Adams County, Wisconsin, and died at the Larned State Hospital, Larned, Kansas, on Wednesday March 8, 1950, at 7:35 p.m. at the age of 88 years, seven months and three days, following an illness of two years.

During the war with the South he moved with his parents to Fairhault County, Minnesota.

He resided in Minnesota until 1906 when he moved to Pulaski County, Missouri, where he lived until 1914, when he moved to Barber County, Kansas. There he lived, except for a short visit with relatives in Minnesota and Dakotas.

On June 30, 1896, he was married to Emerette Painter and to this union five children were born, three daughters and two sons. Two daughters preceded him in death.

He was a farmer by profession until failing in health, then he took up public labor until age forced him to retire about two years ago. He was good to his family and faithful to all who knew him. He is survived by two sons: Walter A. Williams of Medicine Lodge, and Riley M. Williams of Wichita, Kansas; one daughter, Cora Protheroe of Medicine Lodge; one brother, Henry Williams of Minot, North Dakota; two sisters, Mrs. Curt Conrad of Breckenridge, Minnesota, and Mrs. Rena Robb of Arnold Park, Iowa; 14 nieces, 22 nephews; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
