Thelma Pauline (Fussell) Wortman

Thelma Pauline Wortman, 95, died Thursday, November 2, 2006 at Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital, Medicine Lodge.

She was born February 14, 1911 at Lamar, Colorado, the daughter of Joseph and Tessie (Cowgill) Fussell. A resident of Barber County the majority of her life, she was a telephone operator, a school teacher in rural Barber County and a homemaker. She was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star.

On December 8, 1932 she married Jesse M. Wortman at Eureka, KS. He died March 15, 1980.

Survivors include two sons, Jack and Richard, both of Medicine Lodge; a daughter Dorothy Bowman, Tekoa, Washington; a brother Neal Fussell, Medicine Lodge; and two sisters Lenora Hopkins, Cunningham; and Jean Hakanson, Anthony.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Lola Ann Wortman, two infant daughters, 4 sisters, Mary Wilson, Charlotte Manke, Maxine Fullerton and Leota Summers and two brothers Leon Fussell and Gayle Fussell.

Graveside Service was held Monday, November 6 at Highland Cemetery in Medicine Lodge. Pastor Tom Walters officiated.

Memorials may be made to Greater Barber County Historial Action Association (GBCHAA) in care of the funeral home.
