Georgia Mae (Kimball) Johnson

Georgia Mae Johnson, 88, Pratt, died Sunday, October 22, 2006 at South Wind Hospice Home, Pratt.

She was born March 11, 1918 in Barber County, Kansas, the daughter of the late Wilbur Kimball and the late Jane (Jesse) Kimball.

On December 21, 1940, she married Dale M. Johnson at Wellington. He died October 19, 1991.

She was a tax preparer, an officer of BPW, Pratt County Democrat Women, volunteer for South Wind Hospice, helped start a legal secretary association, Order of the Eastern Star, involved in Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts, owner/operator of the first Pizza Hut in Pratt, Mary Kay consultant, legal secretary for Alan Hanson and Clarence Renner, worked for the Pratt County Treasurer, and was treasurer for the Pratt County Humane Society.

She is survived by one son, Greg and wife Candy Johnson of rural Chase County; one daughter, Judy and husband Jim Nixon of Sawyer; son-in-law, Roger Bales of Abilene, Kansas; nephew Mike Harris of Medicine Lodge; 5 grandchildren, Joel Bales of Manhattan, Troy Johnson of Olathe, Sara Bales of Council Grove, Katie Allen of Abilene, and Michelle Snitker of Manhattan.

She was preceded in death by a brother Louis Kimball and a grandson Christopher Bales.

The funeral was on Wednesday, October 25, at Larrison Mortuary, with John Hamm officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge.
