Funeral rites for George H. Giles Thursday

Funeral services for George H. Giles, 79, who died Monday night in a Cherokee hospital, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Church of the Brethren, east of Aline.

Rev. David Smiley will officiate and burial will be in the Eastern Star Cemetery at Aline under the direction of the Wentworth Mortuary of Carman.

Giles was born Dec. 29, 1891, in Iuka, Ks., and was a veteran of World War I. He worked for a number of years as custodian of the high school at Medicine Lodge, Ks.

He was a member of the Church of the Brethren, and moved to Carmen about 10 years ago. Due to ill health, Giles and his wife entered a Carmen convalescent home about two years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; a son, William Giles of Peoria, Ill; a sister, Mrs. Pearl Mader of Wichita, Ks; a brother, James W. Giles, Amarillo, Tex; four grandchildren.
