Carol Lynn Whiteley

Carol Lynn Whiteley, 66, died January 17, 2006 at her home in Medicine Lodge.

She was born August 26, 1939 at El Dorado, Kansas, the daughter of Roland Frederick and Regina (Muth) Walter. At age 14 she entered the convent at Mount Carmel, Wichita. She graduated from Northern Ohio University and Wichita State University with two masters degrees in Special Education.

A resident of Medicine Lodge since 1948 coming from Liberal, she was a special education teacher for over 45 years, most recently teaching at the Sharon Learning Center, Sharon, Kansas and South Central Kansas Special Education Coop, Iuka, Kansas.

On March 17, 1970 she married Jack Whiteley at Wichita. He died July 3, 1989.

Survivors include three daughters Jo-Anna Wright, Oklahoma, Bethany Hill, Ponca City, Oklahoma and Erin Jones, Medicine Lodge; her mother, Regina Walter, El Dorado, Kansas; 5 brothers, Craig, Curt, Chris, Charles and Conrad; 5 sisters, Cynthia, Coleen, Clair, Chantel and Celeste, and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother Freddy.

Memorial service was held on Thursday, January 19, 2006, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medicine Lodge with Sister Nancy Jane Kuntz presiding.
