Emma Marie Shook Ridenour, 74, of Indianapolis, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at her home. She was born near Cross Plains on April 27, 1934, the daughter of James and Elizabeth Whitham Shook.

Survivors include two daughters, Jackie (Frank) de Moss of Beech Bluff, TN, and Trina (Danny) Lockart of Indianapolis; one granddaughter, Ashley Elizabeth Lockart of Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Virginia Shook of Osgood; nieces, Cheryl Bentley, Wanda Shook, Libby Updike, and Donna Marie Shade. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lorraine Francis Shook, and her brothers Lawrence and Roscoe Shook.

Ms. Ridenour attended the Cross Plains school and was a 1952 graduate of Central High School in Madison. She was a 40 year employee for the telephone companies of Western Electric, Pacific Tel, Southern Bell, and Indiana Bell. She had formerly lived in Los Angeles, Salinas, California, Jacksonville Beach, Florida, and Bryson City, North Carolina.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 22 at 2 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will also be on Thursday from 1 p.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to Father Flanagan’s Boys Town or the Cliff Hill Cemetery in care of the funeral home. Brenda Kathryn Thomas, 57, of Penntown, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2008. Funeral services are being held today, Tuesday, at 10 a.m. at the Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Dillsboro with Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Burial will be in the Little Memory Cemetery in Sunman. Emma J. Huffman, 77, of Aurora, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2008. Funeral services are being held today, Tuesday, at 11 a.m. at Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home in Moores Hill with Rev. Terry Rueger officiating. Burial will be in the Hogan Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the family. Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home in Moores Hill is in charge of arrangements.

Shelby Vernon Clark, 90, of Sunman, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2008. Honoring the request of Mr. Clark, there will be no public services. Cook Funeral Home in Sunman is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret Ruth Shay, 73, of Versailles, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2008. Funeral services were held on Monday at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home in Kentucky. Burial was in the New Castle Cemetery. Prewitt Funeral Home, Inc. of New Castle, Kentucky was in charge of arrangements.
