Deaths Doings.
Mrs. Emily Shackleford, of this place, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Jackson, in Indiana, Friday, of pneumonia, aged 67. Mrs. Shackelford was the widow of Mr. James Shackelford, who died about 20 years ago, leaving her quite a large family, but of them only three daughters survive, Mrs. Jackson, Mrs. Hartford Veach, and Mrs. John A. Allen. On receiving a dispatch of her serious illness, Mrs. Allen, accompanied by Mr. Wm. Daugherty, took the early train Friday for the bedside of her mother, but a delayed train prevented her arriving in time to look once more on her loved face in life, death having occurred about 1 1/2 hour before her arrival. The deceased was for many years a devoted member of the Baptist church and she was sustained in the dying hour by a firm faith in a glorious resurrection. The remains were brought here and after a short service at Mr. Allen’s by Rev. George Hunt they were followed to the grave by the sorrowing children and many sympathizing friends.
