North Vernon — Betty Joan Ramsey, 85, of North Vernon, Indiana, passed away at 8:37 a.m. Monday, October 11, 2010, at Franklin United Methodist Community in Franklin, Indiana.
Mrs. Ramsey was born November 24, 1924, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of Denzil Lee and Jinnivive Margarete Mattox Oldham. She married Marshall Ramsey on April 7, 1940, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He preceded her in death September 7, 1985.
Mrs. Ramsey retired from the assembly line at ITT Thompson after 20 years of employment. She was a member of Centerville Baptist Church and of the former Still Water Baptist Church, both in North Vernon, Indiana. She provided toys at Christmas for many children, locally and internationally, for more than 20 years.
Survivors include two sons, Steven Lee Ramsey and his wife Sally of Columbus, Indiana, and John Paul Ramsey and his wife Carol of North Vernon, Indiana; four daughters, Doris Jean Arthur and her husband Dave of New Whiteland, Indiana, Sherry Lee Stone and her husband Carl of Albany, Indiana, Judith Lynn Ison and her husband Jerry and Joyce Ann Ramsey, all of Carrollton, Kentucky; one brother, Donald Earl Oldham and his wife Jane of Greensburg, Indiana; 13 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Ira Lee, Robert Earl and Richard Neal Oldham; and a sister, Elma Jean Hawkins.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon Thursday, October 14, 2010, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon, Indiana, with the Revs. Carl Stone and Jerry Ison officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday. Burial will be at Centerville Cemetery in North Vernon, Indiana.
