Marion Poyner
Marion Poyner, 78, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at Green Valley Care Center in New Albany. He was a resident of Jeffersonville and a former resident of Morgantown.
He was born Nov. 22, 1925, in Chilhowee, Mo. His parents were Rolland and Lulu Myrtle (Wyatt) Poyner. He married Neva (Brummet) Poyner on June 27, 1947, in Brown County. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Brent Poyner of Borden and David Poyner of Wickenburg, Ariz.; three grandsons; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a brother, Everett Poyner.
He graduated from Helmsburg High School in 1943.
He was employed as vice president of Wabash Life Insurance, retiring in 1989 after 42 years.
He was a 50-year member of Morgantown Masonic Lodge.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
The Rev. John Vogt will conduct a service at 2 p.m. Monday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation and Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home and from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Scott Funeral Home’s North Chapel in Jeffersonville. Martinsville American Legion and VFW Honor Guard will conduct military graveside honors at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
