Mrs. Lewis Jones died Sunday at 10 o’clock a.m. after a lingering illness of several months, from a complication of diseases. Mrs. Jones was born in Maryland June 24, 1827 [sic] and came to Indiana with her parents in 1854, and they settled on a government claim in Brown County. She married Lewis Jones in 1859, and to this happy union six children were born, three of whom are now living. She is a sister of Samuel Turner of this place. The deceased was aged 70 years, 10 months and 23 days. She leaves a kind and affectionate husband, many relatives and a host of friends to mourn their loss. Funeral services were held at Georgetown [Brown County] Monday. Interment at the family cemetery near there.

[Turner] Jones, their thirty-two-year-old Ohio-born widowed daughter Elizabeth Gladden, their Indiana-born grandchildren, ten-year-old John and six-year-old E. Lillian Gladden, and Margaret’s eighty-one-year-old, Maryland-born mother, Elizabeth Turner.
