William H. ’Bill’ Higgins
William H. ’Bill’ Higgins, 75, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Indianapolis and a former resident of Portsmouth, N.H.
He was born July 28, 1929, in Hanover, N.H. His parents were David H. and Grace (Darling) Higgins. He married Ruth Downen Higgins on April 26, 2003, in Greenwood. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Christina Higgins of Portsmouth, N.H.; and two grandchildren.
He was employed by the Internal Revenue Service as a technical assistant for 15 years.
He was a member of Southport United Methodist Church, Indianapolis Bowling League for the Blind and Portsmouth Lions Club and was past president of the Federation of the Blind in New Hampshire.
A service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday at Southport United Methodist Church in Indianapolis. Burial will be at Calvary/St. Mary Cemeteries in Portsmouth, N.H. Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center in Indianapolis is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Southport United Methodist Church, 1947 E. Southport Road, Indianapolis, IN 46227, or Bowling League for the Blind, 1835 Sonesta Lane, Indianapolis, IN 46217.
