L. J. Hackney Sr. died at his home in Columbus last Friday afternoon of lung fever. The remains were taken to Shelbyville for interment. He was for many years a prominent citizen of Edinburg and stood high in the estimation of all who knew him.

Hackney, his thirty-two-year-old, Pennsylvania-born wife Mahala Hackney, and their eighteen-year-old, Indiana-born son Len. J Hackney, Jr. Leonard Sr. is the prosperous owner of a livery stable and has real estate valued at $12,000 and personal property valued at $8,000.
