Robert E. Edwards Sr.
  Robert E. Edwards Sr., 73,
died Friday, June 14, 2002, at
his residence in Indianapolis.
  He was born Aug. 10, 1928, in
Indianapolis. His parents were
Andrew T. and Gladys (Meyer)
Edwards Sr. He married Ruth E.
(Welsh) Edwards on Oct. 30,
1970, in Indianapolis. She
survives. Other survivors
include one daughter, Dawn
Laurenzo of Indianapolis; two
sons, Robert E. Edwards Jr. of
Freedom and Mark Anthony
Laurenzo of Indianapolis; one
sister, Eileen R. Kirk of
Indianapolis; one brother,
Andrew T. Edwards Jr. of
Bonita Springs, Fla.; and four
grandchildren. He was preceded
in death by a brother, Donald
Edwards.
  He was employed as a driver
for Advantage Ceramics four
years. He was previously a
safety security director at
Jenn-Aire Co. for 12 years,
retiring in 1990. He was
employed by the Marion County
Sheriff’s Department for 25
years and retired as chief of
detectives in 1977.
  He was a member of Southwood
Assembly of God Church in
Indianapolis.
  He served in the U.S. Marine
Corps from 1948 to 1952.
  The Rev. Johnny Garrison will
conduct a service at 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday at Southwood Assembly
of God Church. Friends may
call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at
Singleton Community Mortuary
and Memorial Center in
Indianapolis and from 5:30
p.m. until the time of service
Tuesday at the church.
