ONE TIME COUNCILMAN FRANCIS J. CRITNEY, DIES
      EDINBURGH -- Former Bartholomew County Councilman Francis Joseph Critney,
Sr., 79, 7235 N. Road 400W, Taylorsville, died at 4:05 p.m. July 20 at St.
Francis Hospital at Indianapolis.
      Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Eskew Funeral Home here.
      In addition to serving on the county council, Critney was a former German
Township Trustee and a former German Township Justice of the Peace.
      He was born Oct. 11, 1902, at Nineveh, the son of Joseph and Barbara
Nichols Critney.  He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member
of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church here, of Taylorsville Lions Club and
Taylorsville Volunteer Fire Department.
      Survivors include his wife, Margaret Anderson Critney; six children, Alice
Reeves and Francis J. Critney, Jr. of Columbus, Dorothy Chandler of
Edinburgh, Grant Dale Critney of Waterloo, Robert R. Critney of Tucson,
Ariz., and Patricia Foster of Charleston, S.C.; two brothers, Robert
Critney of Edinburgh and Chester Critney of Seattle, Wash.; four sisters,
Dorothea Brummett; Marguerite Iliff and Mary Littlejohn of Edinburgh and
Beatrice Baker of Kokomo; 29 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

      Former Bartholomew County Councilman Francis Joseph Critney Sr., 79, of
7235 N. Road 400W, Taylorsville, died at 4:05 p.m. Tuesday at St. Francis
Hospital at Indianapolis.
      In addition to serving on the county council, Critney was a former German
Township Trustee and a former German Township Justice of the Peace.
      Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Michael Welch at 10 a.m. on
Friday, July 23, at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church with burial at Rest
Haven Cemetery.
