Fairland resident H. Robert Coy, 61, died Tuesday morning at Community Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born May 24, 1926, in Shelby County, to Hugh Russell and Edelle (Williams) Coy.
He married Alma (Fisher) Coy Oct. 11, 1947, in Shelby County. She survives.
A lifelong Shelby County resident, Mr. Coy worked the past six years at Banquet Milk Co. in Indianapolis. Before that he worked 15 years at Howard and Harry Oil Co. in Fairland.
He was a member of Second Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Shelbyville Eagles Lodge 84 and Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 766.
A service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ewing Mortuary in Shelbyville, with the Rev. Vernard McClanahan officiating. Friends may call at the mortuary after 4 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be at Fairland Cemetery.
Surviving with his wife are his stepmother, Ruth B. Coy; three sons, John R. Coy of Shreveport, La., Richard L. Coy of Shelbyville, and William A. Coy of Fairland; two brothers, Duane Coy of Shelbyville, and Carroll Coy of Waldron; one stepbrother, Jack Winkler, Franklin; one stepsister, Judith Hendricks, Shelbyville, and five grandchildren.
