Bertha M. Burge

Bertha M. Burge died Tuesday, September 15, 1998, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis.

A resident of Greenwood, she was 92.

Mrs. Burge was born May 24, 1906, in Brown County to John and Abby Stretchberry White.

She and Joseph C. Burge were married January 14, 1927, in Shelby­ville. He died June 6, 1995.

Mrs. Burge had worked in the cafeteria at School 21 in Indianapolis for 21 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Joyce J. Trice of Greenwood; three sons, Joseph C. Burge of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, John R. Burge of Greenwood and Donald L. Burge of Russell, Pennsylvania, 15 grand­children; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Burge; four brothers, George White, Lawrence White, Henry White and Ralph White; and two sisters, Jesse Hestand and Goldie Bullock.

Pastor Kevin Hall led a service Saturday, September 19 in Johnson County’s Greenwood Cemetery.

Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory’s Greenwood Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
