The infant child of Elmer Brown and wife, of Indianapolis, died last Thursday and was brought to this city Saturday morning for burial at Greenlawn.

Notes: The 1900 US Federal Census for Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana records thirty-eight-year-old, Indiana-born Wm. E. Brown, his thirty-year-old, Kentucky-born wife, Mattie J. Brown and their Indiana-born sons, eleven-year-old Carey and one-month-old twin sons Sollis and Mertellis [sic] Brown. The census taker has recorded Martillis’ birth date as 30 Apr 1900.
Indiana, Death Certificates, 1899–2011, Indianapolis, Center Township, Marion County, Certificate and Record of Death, page 316 records that Martillis Brown died at about 4 o’clock p. m. on 19 Jul 1900 at 513 Vinton St in Indianapolis from inanition, aged three months. He was male, white, and single, born in Indianapolis. His father’s name was W. E. Brown and his mother’s maiden name Mattie J. Chambers, both born in Indianapolis. S. Runnels, M.D. was the informant. Martillis was buried in Franklin on 21 Jul 1900, Collier & Reynolds, undertaker.
