The wife of Geo. A. Amsden, a ne­phew of Clerk [David] Fitzgibbon, died at Indianapolis on last Monday evening.

Indiana Marriages, 1780–1992, database, records that when thirty-two-year-old Geo. Amsden married twenty-seven-year-old Mary Gaughan on 12 Feb 1890 in Marion County, he stated that his parents were George Amsden and M. Fitzgibbons. Mary stated that her parents were John Gaughan and Cath. Heinhan.

The 1880 US Federal Census for Franklin, Johnson County, Indiana records sixteen-year-old, Indiana-born Mary Gaughan in the household of her parents, forty-two-year-old, Ireland-born John Gaughan, and forty-year-old, Ireland-born Catherine (Heinhan) Gaughan.

The 1860 US Federal Census for Jeffersonville, Clark, Indiana records four-year-old, Indiana-born George Amsden in the household of his parents, thirty-nine-year-old, New York-born Geo. W. Amsden and his twenty-six-year-old, Maryland-born wife Myria [sic] (Fitzgibbon) Amsden.

The 1850 US Federal Census for Blue River, Johnson County, Indiana records fifty-six-year-old, Ireland-born Thomas Fitzgibbon, his forty-six-year-old, Ireland-born wife Ellen Fitzgibbon and their children, twenty-six-year-old Jerrald [sic], nineteen-year-old Ann M., seventeen-year-old Ellen M., seven-year-old David P., five-year-old Margaret F., three-year-old Morris, and new-born Agnes C. Fitzgibbon. The oldest three children were born in Maryland; the younger four were born in Indiana.

History of Johnson County, Indiana by Elba. L. Branigin (B. F. Bowen & Co., Inc., Indianapolis, 1913) records on page 106 that David Fitzgibbon was Johnson County Clerk of Court from 1888-1891.
