Rites Announced
EDINBURG — Mrs. Tressie E. Wirey, widow of the late Orphia Wirey of Edinburg, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Paul Gillespie in Fort Wayne at 11:45 a.m. Friday following a long illness.
The Rev. William Schuermann will conduct funeral rites in the Edinburg Christian Chruch at 2 p.m. Monday and burial will be made in Rest Haven Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7–9 p.m. Saturday and after 2 p.m. Sunday. The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Monday.
Mrs. Wirey was born on Dec. 20, 1890, the daughter of Moses and Laura Mitchell Compton. In 1911 she married Orphia Wirey who died in 1955. She was a member of the Edinburg Christian Church, Eastern Star lodge, Christian Women’s Fellowship and Home Economics club.
Mrs. Wirey leaves two daughters, Mrs. Paul Gillespie of Fort Wayne and Mrs. David McNeal of Flint, Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. Denzil Clark, Mrs. Catherine Wertz of Edinburg and Mrs. Martin Holdcroft of Franklin; two brothers, Earl Compton of Columbus, Ohio and Ralph Compton of Acton, Ind.; and six grandchildren.
