Wirey, 76, Trafalgar, died Saturday evening at Johnson County Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for four days. She had been in failing health for 10 years. Born July 28, 1906, in Boyle County, Ky., she was the daughter of Frank and Anna (Whitehouse) Ellis. She married Floyd Wirey June 30, 1927. He survives. Mrs. Wirey had worked as a seamstress at Camp Atterbury during World War II and at the Rider Canning Factory in Trafalgar. She was a member of the Mount Carmel Church of Christ and its Ladies Aid Society. A services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Carmel Church of Christ by Jerry Pittman and Clarence Taylor. Friends may call after 5 p.m. today and after 2 p.m. Tuesday at Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home in Franklin and at the church before the service Wednesday. Survivors include two daughters, Delores Bowling, Indianapolis, Betty Jean Sloan, Tucson, Ariz., and three sons, Wendall Wirey, Mooresville, Francis Wirey, Indianapolis, and Arthur Wirey, Trafalgar. Also surviving are two sisters, Ethel Smith, New Palestine, and Gladys Cockran, Trafalgar; 18 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
