Lucile E. Wirey
Lucile E. Wirey, 89, died Saturday at Records Autumn Care Retirement Home in Franklin. She was a lifelong resident of Franklin.
She was born Feb. 20, 1904, in Franklin. Her parents were Everett Adams and Ida (Ruffin) Adams. She married Dallas O. Wirey Dec. 12, 1925, in Franklin. He preceded her in death July 16, 1990. Survivors include a son, R. Gene Wirey of Franklin; a grandson, Michael A. Wirey of Franklin; two great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Wirey and Gretchen Wood, both of Franklin; and a great-great-grandson, Evan Wood of Franklin. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathleen Griffin and Lillian Adams.
She was a 1923 graduate of Franklin High School.
She and her husband owned and operated Wirey’s Service Station for several years. She retired as the bookkeeper for the business in 1987.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin and the Gleaners Class of the church, Franklin Order of Eastern Star 439, Friendly Homemaker Extension Club and Franklin Chapter of Daughters of the Union and a charter member of Franklin Chapter Beta Tau Sigma Sorority.
The Rev. Yvonne Trueblood will conduct a service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Vandivier-Parsley Funeral Home in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
