Last Saturday at 10 a.m., Mrs. Rachael White, living 1½ miles south of here, died. She was one of the oldest pioneers in this section. She was born in Chester District, S. C., Dec. 23, 1812, and came to Monroe county, this state when 18 years of age. She was married to Jas. T. White, Jan. 19, 1842. They entered the farm, near where she died, and lived there until her death. To them were born six children, four sons and two daughters. Three sons, J. C., Chas. and New White, and one daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Chritio, are still living. The deceased died at the home of her daughter, and was buried Sunday afternoon about ¼ of a mile from the house, near the spot where the first Christian church was organized. Cornelius McFadden conducted the services.
