Death of Mrs. Welch.[sic]
Mrs. Welch [sic], wife of Simon Welch [sic], died Monday morning at 9 o’clock at her home in the northeast part of Franklin. Her illness extends back over seven months, yet she was confined to her bed but three days prior to death.
Deceased was born near Dublin, Ireland in 1842, and came to this country when nine years old, settling in this county with her parents.
Funeral services were held at Rose chapel Wednesday morning at 9 o’clock, conducted by Father Donahue of Indianapolis. The remains were taken to that city for burial.
Mrs. Welsh was a kind, good woman, greatly beloved by all her relatives and acquaintances.

Notes: The 1880 US Federal Census for Franklin, Johnson County, Indiana records fifty-two-year-old, Ireland-born laborer Simon Welsh, his thirty-seven-year-old, Ireland-born wife Ann Welsh, and their Indiana-born children, sixteen-year old Lawrence, twelve-year-old Mary, eight-year-old John and three-year-old Kattie Welsh.
The Johnson County Indiana WPA Death Index, 1882–1920, page 220, referencing Book H-18, page 8, records that Ann Walsh [sic], a fifty-six-year-old white female, died 8 Nov 1897 in Franklin.
