Complications which set in following a three weeks illness proved fatal early Tuesday morning to Mrs. Viola E. Wells, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ed Stanford and family, 749 North Hurricane street, at 12:55 a.m.
The body will be returned to near where the deceased enjoyed her childhood days, at Peoga. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the Mt. Olive Methodist church, with interment in the Peoga cemetery.
Mrs. Wells, the widow of John Wells, was born near Trafalgar on November 26, 1865, the daughter of Allen and Sarah Snow Buckner.
Mrs. Wells was married shortly after the death of her parents, her husband succumbing ten years ago, on July 24, 1925. She had made her home with her children since the death of a son, two miles south of Peoga, seven years ago.
She became ill three weeks ago at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Stanford, and been confined there since, where friends are invited to call at any time.
Surviving are one son, Roscoe Wells, of Freetown; three daughters, Mrs. Ed Stanford and Mrs. Vernon Ford, of Franklin, and Mrs. Pearl King, of Edinburg; one sister, Mrs. Oscar Moss, of Oriental, Oklahoma; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Sam Ashley, of Nineveh.
Also by eight grandchildren, Mae Stanford, Freeda Stanford, Katherine Stanford, Audry Stanford, Ernest Ford, and Dorothy Ford, of Franklin, George Wells, of Freetown, and Lawrence King, of Edinburg.
Two sons, Omer Wells and Charles Wells, both of Peoga, preceded her in death. Mrs. Wells was a member of the Methodist church at Peoga and formerly attended the Pentecost church in Franklin.
