Death of an Old Pioneer.
Mrs. Rachel Weddle died Wednesday morning from enlargement of the heart at her home in Hensley Township, at the advanced age of 86 years and three days. She was a native of Virginia but nearly all her life had been spent in Johnson County. Her husband, Stephen W. Weddle, died May 10, 1880, since which time she had lived with her son, Jos. F. Weddle.
Deceased was an exemplary woman through life and was beloved by all who knew her. She was a member of the Beech Grove Baptist church. Five children survive her, viz: Jos. F. Weddle and Rachel Brown, of Hensley township, Leman Weddle and Serena Barnes, living in Nebraska, and Truman Weddle, now a resident of Kansas. She was the grandmother of Sheriff J. C. Weddle and his brother, James Weddle of this city. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon.

Her husband, Stephen Weddle, an old citizen, has been dead for several years. They have left a large family of children and grand-children who figure conspicuously in Johnson county. We will next week give fuller detail of grandmother Weddle’s life. She was beloved by all. She was buried by the side of the companion of her youth at Bethlehem church on Indiana creek.
