Mrs. Laura E. Webb, wife of John Webb, died Thursday evening, Nov. 16, at six o’clock at her home east of town. She had been ill nearly one year and during her last illness endured great suffering. Deceased was a daughter of J. M. Smiley, was thirty-seven years old and leaves a husband and four children, the youngest being but four months old. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Shiloh church, conducted by Rev. E. J. Bauher, assisted by Rev. L. P. Marshall. Burial at Greenlawn.

Webb died from asthenia caused by phthisis pulmonalis* of several years duration at 6 p.m. on 16 Nov 1899 in Needham Township, Johnson County, Indiana. She was female, white and married, a housewife, born in Johnson County. Her father’s name was John M. Smiley (born in Kentucky) and her mother’s maiden name Rebeca [sic] Berryman (born in Ohio). She was buried in Greenlawn on 18 Nov 1899, undertaker Dudley Peck.
