Lela R. Waltz
      Lela R. Waltz, 77, died March 29, 1989 at the home of 
      her daughter, Rosalee White of Franklin.
      Born August 5, 1911, in Johnson County, she was the 
daughter of Roscoe Homer and Bonnie Izetta Barker Compton.  
She was married to Floyd E. Waltz on October 9, 1933.  He 
died in 1986.
      Mrs. Waltz was a member of Edinburgh First Christian 
Church, Edinburgh Order of Eastern Star and for many years co-
owner of Waltz Food Market and Locker in Edinburgh.
      Survivors include a son Lee Waltz of Bedford; and Laura 
VanVlett of Franklin; brothers, Mode Compton of Cape Coral, 
Florida, Roscoe Compton of Indianapolis, and William and 
John Compton, both of Columbus; seven grandchildren; 
and four great-grandchildren.
      She was preceded in death by a sister, Mabel Beier.
      A funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Donald 
Wiltfong March 31 at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home.  Burial 
was at Rest Haven Cemetery.

Franklin
      A service for Lela R. Waltz, 77, of Franklin, will be 
conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 
Edinburgh.
      The Rev. Donald Wiltfong will officiate.  Friends may 
call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 tonight, and an Eastern 
Star service will be conducted at 8 p.m.  Burial will be at 
Rest Haven Cemetery, Edinburgh.
      Mrs. Waltz, a former Edinburgh resident, died Wed-
nesday morning at her daughter’s home in Franklin.
      She was born Aug. 5, 1911, in Johnson County to 
Roscoe H. and Bonnie I. (Barker) Compton.
      She married Floyd E. Waltz on Oct. 9, 1933.  He 
died Jan. 14, 1986.
      Surviving are two children, Rosalee White of 
Franklin and Lee Waltz of Bedford; two sisters, Laura 
Van Vleet of Franklin and Mildred Long of Columbus; 
four brothers, Roscoe Compton of Indianapolis, Mode 
Compton of Cape Coral, Fla., and William Compton 
and John Compton, both of Columbus; seven grandchildren 
and four great-grandchildren.
      A sister, Mabel Beier, preceded her in death.
      Mrs. Waltz and her husband owned Waltz Food Market 
and Locker Plant for many years in Edinburgh.
      She was a member of Edinburgh First Christian Church 
and Edinburgh Order of the Eastern Star.
