Aunt Mary Ann Wallace died at the home of her son-in-law, P. B. Hensley, Friday, May 26. She had been confined to her bed about two months. She was 74 years old. Her husband, William Wallace, died nearly forty years ago and Mrs. Wallace raised the children by her own energy and industry. She was one of the pioneer women of our township and during her long life had been a loving mother and a good citizen, having done her part in life nobly. She was buried at Bethlehem church, on Indiana Creek, by the side of her husband.

The 1860 US Federal Census for Hensley, Johnson County, Indiana records forty-one-year-old, Kentucky-born William Wallace, his thirty-seven-year-old, Virginia-born wife, Mary A Wallace, and their Indiana-born children, fifteen-year-old John C., thirteen-year-old Barbera [sic] A., eleven-year-old Margaret E. and seven-year-old Mary H. Wallace.
