Mrs. James A. Walden died early Wednesday morning after an illness of three weeks at her home in south Franklin. Her husband’s death occurred just two weeks previous. Deceased was born in 1837, near Old Vernon, but had been a resident of Franklin the greater part of her life. She was the mother of twelve children, ten of whom are living. The funeral services will be held today from the residence, at 10 o’clock, conducted by Rev. W. H. Cunningham.

A singular fact concerning the death of Mrs. James Walden is recalled by its occurring on Wednesday. Her husband’s death occurred on Wednesday two weeks ago. On Wednesday of last week her grandchild, the infant son of Dick Walden, died, and about three years ago two sons died only one week apart, the death of each occurring on Wednesday.

The 1860 US Census for Franklin, Johnson County, Indiana records twenty-nine-year-old, Kentucky-born carpenter James A. Walden, his twenty-two-year-old, Indiana-born wife Fanny Walden, and their Indiana-born children, five-year-old Ezra, three-year-old Charley F. and one-year-old William O. Walden.
California Death Index, 1940–1997, database, records that Charles Fremont Walden was born 18 Aug 1856 in Indiana and died 31 May 1954 in California. His father’s surname was recorded as Walden and his mother’s maiden name as Branum [sic].
