OBITUARY.
Elizabeth McMahon Voorhees, wife of William H. Voorhees, and daughter of John and Elizabeth McMahon, was born in Cleveland, O., Nov. 27, 1866 and died at her home near Mahalasville, Brown county, Ind., May 21, 1895, aged 28 years, 5 months and 17 days.
A kind wife has gone to her eternal rest. Surrounded by loving friends and fortified by the consolation of religion, she quietly passed away in the strong hope of a glorious resurrection. Conscious to the last, she was cheerful and, as through life, generous and charitable even in her last hours. There is a vacant chair that reminds us of a kind and noble heart that always had a good word for all. Her life was marked by that integrity of purpose and character that shed around it examples of virtue fragrant with the incense of love and admiration.
Though gone from among us she lives still in memory and love. Her life though short in years has been long in examples of virtue and goodness to those with whom she was associated. Although that lamp of life has been early extinguished, yet will reflection fall over the friends who knew its shining radiance.
