Dommicus [sic] Vandyke, age 83, died Monday night at his home in Greenwood. Deceased was born July 30, 1818 in Franklin County, this state. He had resided in Johnson County since 1845.

Note: Indiana, Death Certificates, 1899–2011, Greenwood, Pleasant Township, Johnson County, Certificate and Record of Death, Health Officer’s Record Number 39, page 253 records that Dominicas Vandyke died at about 11 o’clock p. m. on 30 Apr 1900 at his residence in Greenwood from heart failure, caused by heart lesions, contributory factor La Grippe, aged eighty-two years and nine months. He was male, white, married and a retired farmer, born in Franklin County, Indiana. His father’s name was Peter Vandyke, and his mother’s maiden name Ada Blue, both born in New Jersey. The informant was John H. Vandyke. John was buried in Greenwood on 3 May 1900, Dudley Peck, undertaker.
