Howard Vanarsdall, formerly of this place and an employee of the Franklin Milling & Grain Co., was killed at Templeton, Benton county, last Thursday night while en route to the World’s Fair. It is understood he fell from the platform of one of the coaches while the train was running, seven coaches passing over him. Both legs were ground off and the body mangled, causing death almost instantly. He was in company with another young man who notified his wife at Indianapolis of the accident. Mrs. Vanarsdall telegraphed her father, Fred Walden in this city that her husband had been killed. Friends went to Indianapolis and learned that the body had been buried where the accident occurred. They proceeded to Templeton, exhumed the remains and brought them to Franklin, arriving early Sunday morning. Funeral services were held at the house of Mr. Walden, conducted by Rev. C. W. Lee. Burial at Greenlawn.
