==============================
Clyde Turpin, who was accidentally shot while hunting, as related last week, died Wednesday night at 12 o’clock from lockjaw. The wound was an exceedingly bad one, the muscles being torn in a terrible manner. Tuesday morning the physicians in charge noticed symptoms that convinced them that the worst might be expected. These developed rapidly. Wednesday morning he arose to have his arm dressed, remarking to his parents that it would be the last time he would get up. About noon he had become unconscious and continued in that condition until his death. Funeral services will be held this afternoon from the residence, conducted by Rev. C. R. Hudson.
The 1880 US Federal Census for Franklin, Johnson County, Indiana records eleven-month-old Clide [sic] Turpin, his three-year-old, Indiana-born sister Dellie May Turpin, and his twenty-six-year old, Indiana-born mother Mattie Turpin as living in the household of Clyde’s grandparents, sixty-one-year-old, Kentucky-born Enoch Turpin and fifty-six-year-old, Kentucky-born Sallie J. Turpin.
