OBITUARY.

Andrew J. Trout, the oldest of five—four sons and one daughter—was born in Floyd county, Indiana, May 6, 1819.

In his infancy his parents came to Nineveh Township, Johnson county, Indiana, where they resided till 1829, when they moved to Pleasant township, where he has ever since resided with the exception of a few years residence in the state of Illinois.

After the decease of his parents he was the first of the family of children to depart this life, leaving the four younger members of blood relation to mourn his decease. Three of these lived in Illinois one in Kansas. Two brothers Jesse and Smiley Trout were at the burial services.

Mr. Andrew Trout was twice married. First to Miss Elizabeth Ann Lemasters, July 1, 1858; the second time to Mary E. Trout, June 7, 1870. Of the first marriage three sons, now living at the homestead came to bring happiness to the family circle. This circle was to him a select and joyful one to which he would often retreat to hold conversation with his sons, of whom he was justly proud.

His death was very sudden though, to him not unexpected, nor by him not altogether overlooked in preparation for the event. After dinner, [illegible] on Saturday, January the 3rd, 1885, his spirit passed out of the Tabernacle of clay to meet his Maker. His wife and sons will now miss him from home! The fireside! And the table! Truly, “There Will Be” to them who weep “one vacant chair.”

The funeral services were held at his home Monday, January 5th, at 2 p.m., and in the presence of a large concourse of people. Suitable remarks were made by the minister of the M. E. church of Greenwood. Mr. Trout’s remains were placed in the vault at the Greenwood cemetery, beautiful for situation, one half mile west of town, to await permanent interment. “Requiescat in pace.”    W. H. W.
