DEATH OF DAVID TILSON
A Prominent and Influential Citizen of the Hurricane Neighborhood
David A. Tilson died Thursday, January 31, at his home in the Hurricane neighborhood, of tuberculosis.
He was born May 12, 1845, and had been a resident of the Hurricane neighborhood all his life. He was the son of J. C. Tilson, who was one of the founders of the Hurricane Baptist church of which he was a member. Deceased was married November 19, 1868 to Melissa Jane Clark, who with five children, four sons and a daughter, survive him.
Mr. Tilson was a man of upright character and sterling integrity and his death will make a vacancy in the neighborhood that will be hard to fill. He was in politics a staunch Republican. The funeral occurred Saturday conducted by Rev. C. H. Hall, burial at Hurricane. E. G. Barnhizer, director.
