Mrs. Susan C. Thompson, one of the early settlers of this county, died on Saturday of last week at the home, near Hopewell, of her granddaughter, Mrs. Taylor Wheat. Mrs. Thompson suffered an attack of the grippe which resulted in her death within a few hours. The deceased was born in North Carolina, August 4, 1804, and in early life removed to this state. She was the wife of Wm. Thompson, who died many years ago. The funeral occurred at 11 o’clock a.m. on Monday at First Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
