Robert S. Thompson, a well-known resident of this city, died at his home on north Main Street on Wednesday morning at 5 o’clock, after an illness of several months of heart trouble. He was taken ill last winter with la grippe and has never been able to be about much since. Mr. Thompson was a high Mason, a prominent democrat and a useful and influential citizen, and one that our town could ill afford to lose. The funeral took place from his late residence at ten o’clock yesterday morning, the services being conducted by Rev. L. P. Marshall. The remains were interred in Greenlawn cemetery. Deceased leaves a wife and three grown children.
