JAMES TERHUNE.

––––

James Terhune was born in Mercer County, Ky., in the year 1821, and removed with his parents to Johnson County, Ind., in the year 1830. He was married to Eusebia N. Nay, March 17th, 1842, which union was blest with seven children; viz: Thos. L., Asa G., Wm. D., Lucinda M., John W., Ermina A. and Dillard W., five of whom are yet living, two are dead, John W. and Dillard W. The subject of this sketch was a resident of Johnson county for sixty-two years, and having chosen farming as an occupation, was well acquainted with the hard labor and many disadvantages of settling a new country. He was a worthy member of the Old School Baptist church, having united with that order in the year 1842. He was an affectionate husband, a kind father, an esteemed citizen. He died from that dread disease, la grippe, at midnight on Jan. 21st, 1892, leaving an afflicted wife and five children to mourn their loss.
