Ruth (Betner) Swartz
      Ruth (Betner) Swartz, 93, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, 
at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. She was a 
resident of Greenwood.
      She was born Jan. 31, 1909, in Indianapolis. Her parents 
were Walter B. and Orpha A. (Vinson) Betner. She married 
Roy L. Swartz on March 14, 1930, in Smith Valley in Green-
wood. He preceded her in death May 10, 1996. Survivors include 
a daughter, Julia Jean Swartz of Greenwood. She was preceded 
in death by two brothers, Ross Betner in April 1982 and Donald 
Betner on Dec. 17, 1999; and a sister, Katherine Zschiedrich 
on April 13, 1999.
      She was a 1926 graduate of Center Grove High School. 
      She was employed for several years by Kingman and Co. 
Meat Packers in Indianapolis as a bookkeeper in the credit depart-
ment. She and her late husband had also farmed in White River 
Township for many years.   
      She attended Center Grove Presbyterian Church and Green-
wood Order of the Eastern Star 390.
      A service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Wilson 
St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel. 
Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
 Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in White River 
Township.

RUTH BETNER SWARTZ
      Ruth Betner Swartz, 93, Greenwood, died Sept. 27.  She 
was a credit department bookkeeper for Kingan & Co.  She 
was a member of the Greenwood chapter of the Order of the 
Eastern Star.  Services: 10 a.m. Sept. 30 in Wilson St. Pierre 
Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, with 
calling from 2 to 7 p.m. Sept. 29.  Burial: Mount Pleasant 
Cemetery, Glenns Valley.  She was the widow of Roy L. 
Swartz.  Survivor: daughter Julia Jean Swartz.
