Death From Blood Poisoning.
Daniel Sutton, of Burlington,
The victim of a Slight and Apparently
Harmless Scratch.
One week ago last Friday Daniel Sutton, residing in Burlington township, went to the town of Burlington and was suffering an irritation on the left-hand. The hand was slightly inflamed, but there was nothing to indicate any serious trouble. Dr. Chittick prescribed for it and Sutton went home. It grew gradually worse and nothing seemed to afford relief until last Friday when Dr. Chittick assisted by Dr. Seigler, of Geetingsville, determined that they were dealing with an aggravated case of blood poisoning and amputated Sutton’s arm. He did not rally from the operation but died on Sunday night.
Mr. Sutton’s trouble began over a small scratch, scarcely visible, which he could not account for receiving.
He was a man of good reputation and his sad taking off is a matter of general regret.
