S. Moore Surface, an old resident of this place, but lately residing near Glenn’s Valley, died last Sunday morning. He was 64 years old and a native of this county. He taught school in this county and at Eaton, O., for a number of years, and his wife was Miss Sue Widner, of the latter place. Mr. Surface was one of the most widely known men in Johnson County, also one of the largest. The funeral took place at Greenwood on Tuesday, Rev. Westhafer conducting the services.
