Betty M. St. John

Betty M. St. John, 72, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at her residence in Morgantown.

She was born Sept. 27, 1929, in Morgantown. Her parents were George Arthur and Marie (Dine) Anderson. She married Austin A. St. John on June 5, 1959, in Morgantown. He preceded her in death Jan. 12, 1993. Survivors include a daughter, Tonya Woolbright of Martinsville; a granddaughter, Kelly N. Myers of Martinsville; two great-granddaughters; and two step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, A.P. “Job”, Paul R. “Stooge” and Clifford “Teedy” Anderson.

She was a 1947 graduate of Trafalgar High School.

She was employed by the Hartford Insurance Co. and American States Insurance Co. in Indianapolis from 1959 to the mid-1970s. She also sold Avon products for many years.

She was a member of Morgantown First Christian Church, Ladies Prayer Group and Hopeful Planters Garden Club. She also cared for the flowers and plants on the main streets of Morgantown and helped for several years with Col. Vawter Days in Morgantown.

The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a service at 11 a.m. Friday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
