OBITUARY.

Samantha C. Spicer, daughter of John C. and Dilema Spicer, was born in Newburg, Johnson County, Ind., January 15, 1871; was converted and joined the Beech Grove Baptist church in the summer of 1891, under the pastoral care of Rev. Cather. She lived a faithful member of the church and attended worship of the Lord’s house as long as her health would permit. When hearing the church bell ring, calling the servants of the Lord to His house, she would express a great desire to go.

She died, having said, “I am not afraid to die,” on Nov. 8, 1893, within fifteen minutes of the time of day of her birth. So closed the life of one so hopeful and young. Father, three brothers and one sister mourn their loss, the church a promising member. Shall we not say, “God’s will be done?” The funeral sermon was preached by the pastor at her own church Nov 9, 1893, to her many friends and neighbors, after which her body was laid to rest in the cemetery nearby.
