NEW WHITELAND Sandra Kay SmootSandra Kay Smoot, 54, died this morning at her residence in New Whiteland. She had been a resident of New Whiteland for 31 years and a former resident of Martinsville. She was born Aug. 22, 1938, in Martinsville. Her parents were James Lee Cornwell and Mary Juanita (Kelley) Cornwell. She married Paul G. Smoot June 20, 1958, in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death Sept. 8, 1976. Survivors include three sons, Michael Harlan Smoot of New Whiteland and Paul Edward Smoot and James Lee Smoot, both of Indian- apolis; a sister, Deborah Lynn Ford of New Whiteland; and four grandchildren. She was a graduate of Martinsville High School and attended Indiana Central Normal and Keystone School of Realty, both in Indianapolis. She was clerk-treasurer of New White- land from 1980 to 1988. She also was a real estate agent for Ford Realty in Whiteland for 25 years. She was a member of Franklin House of Prayer Church and past president of the following organizations: Whiteland Jaycee Janes, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Whiteland and Whiteland Women's Optimist Club. A service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Nebo Memorial Park in Martinsville.

Sandra Smoot, ex-town official.NEW WHITELAND, Ind - Services for Sandra Kay Cornwell Smoot, 54, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home at Franklin, with calling until 9 tonight. Mrs. Smoot, formerly of Martinsville, died Wednesday. A Republican, she served as New Whiteland clerk-treasurer from 1980 to 1988. Mrs. Smoot had attended Indiana Central Normal College and Keystone School of Realty in Indianapolis. She was a real estate agent for Ford Realty in Whiteland 25 years. A member of Franklin House of Prayer Church, she was past president of Whiteland's Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Jaycees Janes and the Women's Optimist Club. She was the widow of Paul G. Smoot. Survivors -- sons Paul Edward; James Lee; Michael Harlan Smoot; sister Deborah Lynn Ford; four grandchildren.

She was born Aug. 22, 1938, daughter of James Lee and Mary Juanita Kelley Cornwell. On June 20, 1958, she was married to Paul G. Smoot in Indianapolis. He died Sept. 8, 1976. Three sons, Paul Edward Smoot and James Lee Smoot of Indianapolis, and Michael Harlan Smoot of New Whiteland; a sister, Deborah Lynn Ford of New Whiteland; four grandchildren, and two nieces survive. Mrs. Smoot was graduated from Martinsville High School in 1956. She attended Indiana Central (now the University of Indianapolis) and the Keystone School of Realty. She was an agent for Ford Realty, New Whiteland, for 25 years, and she was New Whiteland's clerk-treasurer from 1980 to 1988. She was a member of the Franklin House of Prayer, and past president of the Whiteland Jaycee Janes, of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, and the New Whiteland Women's Optimist Club. Her funeral will be Friday morning at 10 o'clock at Vandivier-Tudor, Franklin, with burial in Nebo Memorial Park here. Calling will be from 4 to 9 o'clock Thursday at the funeral home.
