Christine Smith, the little nine year old daughter of Mrs. Kittie Smith, died Saturday night at 12 o’clock at the home of her grandparents, W. B. Ellis and wife, on North Main St, after a week’s illness from diphtheria. The disease assumed its most malignant form and baffled all medical skill. The little girl was of an unusually sweet disposition and beloved by everyone. Her death is a severe blow to the mother and relatives, and they have the sympathy of all in their sad affliction. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday evening at 4 o’clock, conducted by Rev. L. P. Marshall. Burial at Greenlawn.
