A SAD DEATH.

A Criminal Operation Costs Young
Ida Simpson, of Trafalgar, her Life.
––––––––
Miss Ida Simpson, of Trafalgar, aged nineteen years, died Sunday evening at seven o’clock, in Indianapolis, of blood poisoning, the result as claimed by Coroner Beck, of Marion county, of criminal malpractice.
Miss Simpson left Trafalgar about two weeks ago, her expressed intention being to visit her sister-in-law, Mrs. Anna Simpson, on South Ill. St. Her real purpose was to have an operation performed that would save her and her parents from a disgrace that would remain for life. Her condition was made known to a girl by the name of Agnes Haggard, who accompanied her to Dr. Eskew’s office on Ohio street. He told her that he could not perform the operation and that such an operation would probably result in her own life being the penalty. She was desperate, however, and they went to another physician who did perform the operation. She then went to the Simpson home on South Ill. Street and soon after was taken seriously ill. Drs. Durham and Brennan were called but were too late to save her life. The death was reported to the coroner on Monday. The parents of the girl went to Indianapolis on Monday and were grief stricken when they realized the situation. Miss Simpson admitted to Miss Haggard that a stock dealer of near Trafalgar was responsible for her condition and had sent her to Indianapolis to have the operation performed. Coroner Beck says that every phase of the case will be fully investigated and if this man is guilty he will have to answer for his crime.
It is understood the girl left a written statement which is in the hands of the parents. Its contents may be made known in due time.
