Mrs. Mary Short, after an illness of several weeks, died Sunday night at her home in this city. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock at the home of John Bradburn, conducted by Rev. L. P. Marshall. Burial at Hope­well.

Notes: The 1880 US Federal Census for Franklin, Johnson County, Indiana records sixty-three-year-old, Kentucky-born farmer William Short, his fifty-seven-year-old, Kentucky-born wife Mary A. Short and their Indiana-born children, twenty-three-year-old Mary A., twenty-one-year-old George and nineteen-year-old John.

Indiana Marriages, 1811–2007, database with images, records that when sixty-one-year-old Mary (Woods) Bradburn married Lewis Mann on 11 Dec 1917, she stated that her parents were William Short and Mary Ann Woods.

The Johnson County Indiana WPA Death Index, 1882–1920, page 185, referencing Book H-18, page 15, records that Mary F. [sic] Short, a seventy-six-year-old white female, died 2 Apr 1899 in Franklin.
