James Shipp, of the Jollity neighborhood, who had been sick with typhoid fever the past few weeks at the hospital, died Friday evening at 5:30. He had shown signs of improvement when a relapse was taken with internal hemorrhage which resulted in death. Deceased was about fifty-two years old. Funeral services were held Sunday morning at Jollity, conducted by Rev. Stanton. Burial at the Brockman graveyard.

Note: Indiana, Death Certificates, 1899–2011, Franklin, Franklin Township, Johnson County, Certificate and Record of Death, page 201 records that James Shipp died at about 4 o’clock a. m. on 12 Oct 1900 in Franklin, Indiana from endocarditis, contributory cause perforation of bowel, aged 50 years, five months and five days. He was male, white, and a farmer, born in Indiana. His residence was Needham Township, Johnson County, Indiana. His father’s name was Joshua Shipp and his mother’s maiden name Martha unknown, birthplaces of both unknown. The informant was Samuel Hays. James was buried in Brockton Cemetery, Shelby County, on 14 Oct 1900, E. G. Barnhizer, undertaker.
